Instar is the measure of how many times a spider has molted in its life time. It is commonly abbreviated as i2-i10 for example.

What size enclosure do I need?

For juveniles i6-i8, We recommend 4x4x4”. Subadults- Adults 4x4x6- 6x6x9”. Slings i4-i5 can be housed in a temporary 2-4oz condiment containers or plastic jars. All housing should have cross and top ventilation.

How many times will my spider molt?

Jumping Spiders will typically molt 10-12 times before reaching maturity. Males can mature in as little soon as 8-9 molts.

Do jumping spiders bite?

Jumping spiders do have the ability to bite if threatened, however they are more likely to run or jump away. They are typically not aggressive creatures. It is very rare that they do, however their venom is not harmful to humans in most cases.
